One, Two, Three feels like Sayer distilling the rhythm of a race into a single, pulsing gesture. The three horses emerge in staggered motion, their forms partially abstracted so that they seem to surge forward in a shared current of colour and momentum. She uses those characteristic sweeps of paint to blur the boundaries between them, turning the trio into a kind of kinetic sequence—three beats of the same heartbeat. The effect is lively and almost musical, as if you can sense the cadence of hooves and the tightening focus of the chase.
