Portrait of a Winner
The Stubbs painting of the great 19th century racehorse Gimcrack is well known around the world. So what better way to mark a victory in the race that carries his name than by receiving a commission to immortalise this year's winner - Sands of Mali, featured above - of the Al Basti Equiworld Gimcrack Stakes on canvas. Ten Seconds of Fame
One of the highlights of the Ebor Festival at York in August was the running of the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes sponsored by Coolmore. The line-up was led by short-priced favourite Lady Aurelia and Battaash. The race lived up to its hype with outsider Marsha edging out Lady A by a nose in the most dramatic fashion.
A Back-Handed Compliment!
This was certainly a first for Equestrian Art Ltd! A visitor at our Blue Rider Gallery at York, proudly show's off his tattoo of a Martin William's jockey sporting the racing colours of the legendary Brigadier Gerard. The horse was his hero and he screen shot the image from our website and then asked for it to be tattooed onto his leg.
Bonhams Auction feature work by EAL artist Elvira Pyrkova
Elvira Pyrkova is a Russian artist, now based in the UK, whom EAL have been representing since 2015. A work of hers entitled 'Ladies Day at Ascot' will be auctioned at Bonhams in their Russian sale, at New Bond St on June 7th with price estimates of between $10,000 - $13,000.
Royal Mail commissions Mike Heslop for new stamps
Mike Heslop, whom we have been representing for many years, was commissioned by the Royal Mail to paint a series of six pictures of famous racehorses for commenmorative postage stamps just released and available at post offices evereywhere. featured above along with the legend himself is the Frankel stamp.
Cheltenham Festival 2017 update
Our artists always excel at the two major Cheltenham meetings and the 2017 Festival meeting was no exception with sales up 25 per cent on 2016.
New customers represented two thirds of total sales with sales following the Festival also up by 60 per cent. Sales from Germany, Poland and Ireland figuring significantly in the total.
The London Exhibition 2016
Equestrian Art International's London Exhibition held on the Chelsea Waterfront from 1st December to 4th December, was a great success. Last held three years ago at the Menier Gallery on the South Bank, our 2016 exhibition showcased some sensational new works by our leading artists.
