Stanley studied fine art at university before receiving his postgraduate teaching certificate from Birmingham University. Between 1972 and 1984 he began teaching art at schools and colleges of higher education before moving to France to paint professionally full time.
Stanley’s studio is based in the 14th century Chateau Domaine de la Tour in the heart of Burgundy. Here he paints motor sport and horse racing scenes which illustrate the excitement, passion and glamour of their respective high octane sports.
Stanley is a member of the prestigious Automotive Fine Arts Society and regularly exhibits at the Pebble Beach Concourse in California, reputed to be the world’s most famous automobile exhibition venue.
Working mostly in oils, Stanley adopts a contemporary approach to his painting combining a consummate skill for detail and accuracy with an ability to capture the power and speed of his subject.
Following his success at the 2011 Annual Exhibition of the Society of Equestrian Artists at the Mall Galleries in London, EAL are proud to become Stanley’s representative for original equestrian works in the UK.
