Jon Gubbay was born in London in 1951 and qualified as an interior designer in 1971. He also worked as a graphic designer for many years. He has been a full time artist for the last eleven years. He regularly exhibits in London and has been shown in Cornwall and Windsor as well as in Sydney where he lived for almost two years.
He has had eight successful shows at the GX Gallery in Camberwell and four years ago he was taken on by the then Spencer Coleman Fine Art Gallery in St Katherine Docks in London, who have already featured him as a lead artist. However they are now called the Alexander Miles Gallery.
Originally an oil painter, he has worked in a variety of media, including watercolour and gouache. Presently he is working in acrylic which is ideal for his strong visual style and vibrant colours. His recent inspiration has been derived from his views along the Thames in Central London which he translates in his own unique way. Stunning large symmetrical abstract panels are also a notable addition to his recent work.
